Tamiya's kit builds a rally-prepared version of the air-cooled Volkswagen Type 1 Beetle, a car whose rear-engine layout, short overhangs and simple, tough construction made it a common sight on rough-road events long after its production heyday. The body is a lightweight polycarbonate shell supplied clear with masks and decals, mounted on Tamiya's MF-01X chassis — a shaft-driven 4WD platform with the motor ahead of the front axle and adjustable wheelbase and track settings, fitted here with block-pattern rally tyres. It is a kit, so radio gear, electronic speed controller, motor, battery and paint are needed to finish it.
