The AE86 Sprinter Trueno is the three-door GT Apex, the lightweight rear-drive coupé built by Toyota in the mid-1980s with the 4A-GE twin-cam engine and pop-up headlights, and the car that carries Takumi Fujiwara through the Initial D story. Ignition Model produces this officially licensed Initial D version, IG2871, in 1/18 scale as a resin model with finely reproduced trim, glazing and interior rather than a die-cast body with opening panels. Ignition's runs are small and single-batch, so individual references such as this one tend to disappear from retail quickly once the production allocation is gone.
